HBSA – Cecilia Temponi Scholarship



  • To provide financial assistance to outstanding students pursuing a Texas State University degree 

  • To recognize and honor outstanding HBSA members 

Criteria for Selection

  • Students must be a full-time student presently enrolled at Texas State University and be an active paid member of HBSA 

  • Must demonstrate outstanding academic achievement with an overall GPA of 3.0 

  • Must be highly involved in HBSA throughout the semester, and plans on being a member for the next two semesters. 

  • Write a short essay about your involvement in HBSA, and the ways in which you have done to promote HBSA.

Selection Process

  • Application for the Cecilia Temponi Scholarship will be available during the spring semester.

  • Scholarships are awarded for one academic year 

  • Application information can be renewed on academic achievement and merit 

  • The HBSA scholarship selection committee consists of Dr. Mendez, the CFO and the Director of Fundraising.

Restrictions / Limitations

  • All board members of the executive council can not apply for the scholarship.

  • Applicants must be active paid members of HBSA for at least one semester before applying for the scholarship.


To maintain the academic scholarship during the academic year that you are the recipient of the HBSA scholarship, you must:

  • Sustain the appropriate GPA of 3.0 

  • Be a student at Texas State University 

  • Be an active paid member of HBSA, and continue to be a member for the following academic year.

  • Scholarship award must be only applied towards tuition or books 

  • The scholarship will be awarded in the form of a check for tuition or credit towards the bookstore 

Award Amount

  • Varies – the exact amount of the scholarship is set each calendar year by the endowment foundation of Texas State University.

  • Complete application 

  • One page essay 

  • A copy of your resume 

  • An official Texas State University transcript showing your GPA
