Exploring Career Opportunities in Atlanta!

In 2024, the Hispanic Business Student Association at Texas State University traveled to Atlanta, where members engaged with alumni and business leaders at KPMG, Cintas, Coca-Cola, Ole Mexican Foods, and the Georgia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Students had the chance to network directly with Hispanic professionals, learning from their career experiences and insights into leadership within global companies. This trip provided an invaluable opportunity to strengthen alumni connections, explore diverse industries, and represent McCoy College in one of the South’s key business hubs.

Meeting with KPMG
Our first professional stop in Atlanta was at KPMG, where HBSA members had the chance to gain insights from top professionals at one of the world’s leading accounting and consulting firms. The group discussed career paths in finance, audit, and consulting and learned about KPMG’s commitment to diversity in the workplace. The experience inspired students with firsthand stories of how KPMG's Latino professionals navigate the industry.
Networking Session at IronMonger Brewing
In the evening, HBSA hosted a networking session at IronMonger Brewing, featuring McCoy College Dean Sanjay Ramchander and Texas State alumni. This informal gathering allowed students to discuss career development and leadership in a relaxed setting while strengthening ties within the Texas State community.
Tour and Meeting at Cintas
On the following day, the HBSA group visited Cintas, where they toured the facilities and met with management. The session provided insight into the operational aspects of Cintas’ business, from supply chain logistics to client relations, highlighting the many career opportunities in corporate service industries.
Visit to Coca-Cola Headquarters
A trip highlight was visiting Coca-Cola’s global headquarters, where members enjoyed a tour of the iconic company’s offices. The group met with the Coca-Cola team, learning about the company’s rich history, current projects, and brand management strategies. Students also visited the World of Coke museum, deepening their appreciation of Coca-Cola’s legacy.
Latino and Latina Entrepreneur & Leadership Day
On Friday, HBSA members attended a special day dedicated to celebrating Latino/a business leaders, beginning with a tour of Ole Mexican Foods led by Edgar Moreno, the President of Sales and Marketing. Later, the group headed to the Georgia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce for a fireside chat with Chamber President Veronica Maldonado-Torres. This day was capped off with a professional development workshop that covered LinkedIn networking strategies and featured an inspiring virtual introduction by HBSA Banquet Keynote Speaker, Ruben Robledo.
Closing Ceremony and Reflection
HBSA concluded the trip with a closing ceremony where members reflected on their transformative experiences, new insights, and career inspirations gained throughout their time in Atlanta.
